A Pilates reformer features a sliding carriage with springs of varying tensions that create resistance to challenge the entire body while remaining low impact on the joints. This combination helps strengthen the core, arms, legs, glutes, and back, improving overall muscular endurance and stability. The machine’s design provides immediate feedback on form and encourages precise, controlled movement. In addition, the reformer supports safe stretching and increased mobility, allowing users to lengthen muscles through smooth, guided motion. Its moving carriage trains balance and coordination, making even simple exercises more dynamic while reinforcing proper mechanics and mindful movement patterns.

The Pilates tower uses a combination of springs, bars, and straps to support strength training, flexibility work, and controlled mobility exercises.
The Pilates tower features multiple spring attachment points from a vertical frame (the tower), allowing users to adjust resistance for both upper‑ and lower‑body movements. It includes a push‑through bar and a roll-down bar with several height adjustments, enabling a wide range of exercises from a standing position or while working from a raised platform. The tower mounts securely to the reformer frame, providing a stable structure for a highly adaptable workout that supports strength, alignment, and mindful movement.

Mat Pilates focuses on controlled, precise movements performed on the floor to build core strength, stability, flexibility, and mind-body connection. Using just one’s body weight — and sometimes small props — it emphasizes mindful movement, proper alignment, and breathwork. Because no equipment other than a mat is required, mat Pilates is highly accessible and great for those who want to maintain their Pilates practice at home or while traveling.
I currently offer 30- and 60-minute, one-on-one Pilates sessions using the reformer, the tower, the mat, or a combination of these. Click below for a description of each.
Who can benefit from private Pilates?
Pilates truly is for everyone! Private sessions offer a more focused experience customized to meet one’s goals, abilities, injury history, physical limitations, and schedule. I work with those who:
are new to Pilates and want to see if it’s for them
want to take group Pilates classes at a studio but want a strong foundation of the movements and cueing before joining group classes
are rehabbing from an injury or surgery and want to add Pilates to their physical therapy regimen
want a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection as it relates to everyday movement
are training for a specific sport and seek to enhance balance, strength, and movement patterns with sport-specific exercises
just want to move their body with intention and feel great afterward!
